Complete Vehicle Development

Complete Vehicle Development is Semcon’s answer to the persisting tendency of automobile manufacturers to outsource increasingly complex development tasks and assign them to external service providers who possess the capability to implement the entire process chain, to produce small runs and to handle complete vehicle projects on their own. In the Complete Vehicle Development business area, our employees at various locations coordinate and control the processes involved in major design contracts. They take charge of developing modules such as complete doors, or assume responsibility for developing entire vehicles right the way up to the successful start of production – step by step, along the entire process chain.
For example Semcon Automotive was assigned to make a new generation 4-seater Bentley Azure Cabriolet in 2004. This was a complete assignment with Semcon Automotive taking responsibility for all development work right up to production. The assignment employed a group of 75 individuals who did everything from prototype development and styling to crash-tests, simulations and passenger safety. A very pleased customer started production of the Azure in 2006.
